River Cruising

River cruises are soaring in popularity worldwide and are fast becoming the most popular types of cruises for visitors to both exotic and historic destinations alike. Rivers have traditionally been critical to a country’s trade and transport, and much activity, life and culture have been built around these waterways. A river cruise will offer calm waters and an opportunity to see new lands from a different perspective.

We offer river cruises through nearly every country in Eastern and Western Europe, through Russia, and along the Yangtze River in China, or the Nile River in Egypt. A river cruise may be as short as 3 nights, or as long as 30 nights. Itineraries in certain destinations such as China or Egypt typically feature a shorter cruise packaged with a land tour, giving travelers the opportunity to visit a greater number of places within the country, as many cannot be reached via waterways; in the case of a country such as China, the Yangtze river cruise is a comparatively small part of the the cruise tour experience, due to the size of the country and the vast distances to be traveled. On some European itineraries you will be given the option of adding on a city stay at the start and/or finish of your river cruise, providing a more in-depth immersion in a destination over the course of several days; some cruise lines include this as part of their standard river cruise programs.

Advantages offered by our river cruises

  • All of our river cruise lines are well-known, and all provide a high standard of accommodation and cuisine
  • Tours and excursions are included in the price of your cruise fare, and feature English speaking local guides. Optional outings may be available at additional cost on some itineraries.
  • Many of your tours will be walking tours which leave right from where your river cruise ship is docked; depending upon your river cruise itinerary, on most days you will not have to climb aboard a motor coach in order to see the sights, and you will always be given time to wander on your own so that you can try local delicacies and purchase those special gifts for friends and family.
  • While aboard ship, your cruise fare normally includes 3 meals a day,
plus early morning coffee and afternoon tea (with cakes!). Some lines
offer complimentary local wines with dinner. On many itineraries
you may be treated to a special dining experience in town.
  • All river cruise lines offer a choice of several items at each
meal; in most cases passengers can request another option if nothing
    on the menu appeals.
  • All meals are single seating, and you may sit with whomever you choose, providing
many opportunities to meet new people.
  • While on your river cruise you only have to unpack and repack once, while enjoying visits to many fascinating towns and cities.
