What makes Blount Small Ship Adventures so remarkable?
- Retractable Pilot house. This innovation allows the Blount vessels to travel beneath low bridges and transit locks. As a result, Blount ships are the only overnight cruising vessels able to navigate the historic Erie Canal.
- Dining Room. Vessels have a one seating dining room and an open seating policy that allows you the opportunity to meet and dine with different passengers at every meal. Chef-prepared meals are not only delicious but healthy. Soft drinks and snacks are available around the clock. Certain dietary restrictions can be accommodated if the office and chef are made aware of them in advance.
- Cabins. Classic yacht-style cabins, each with private facilities are located throughout the ship. Facilities are the same for all categories and include a head, sink and continental-type shower. All cabins have individually controlled air conditioning systems that continuously feed in fresh air and remove “ used” air. Smoking is allowed on outside decks only so all cabins are smoke-free.
- Mini-sailboats/launch/kayaks. Blount carries kayaks and a Sunfish on board during the winter schedule and a motorized launch (boarded from the safe stern platform) to take passengers to small island shores. As all cruising areas may not be appropriate for small sailboat or kayak use, this is left to the discretion of the Captain.
- Glass-bottom boat. A Blount innovation, this 21’ x 10’ craft will allow snorkelers and non-snorkelers alike to view marine life. The glass-bottom boat is on board during the winter schedule only.
- Stair lifts. Stair lifts have been installed between main, sun and top decks on all vessels to assist passengers who might find them helpful.
- Bow Ramp. Invented by Founder and Shipbuilder Capt. Luther H. Blount, this ramp enables direct, easy access to the loveliest of beaches and interesting terrain.
- Shallow Draft. The six and a half-foot draft allows Blount ships to enter areas other ships cannot navigate. This avoids long lines and tourist traps so that passengers can see the best an area has to offer. It allows the ships to navigate coastal waters, jungle rivers and isolated beaches.
- Vista View lounge and bar area. Lounges have 180°visibility. BYOB policy adds to the social mingling and contributes a financial savings. The bar has free soda and juice mixers to make your favorite drink. The lounge on the Grande Class vessels doubles as an auditorium and is large enough to accommodate all passengers at the same time.
